‘Tis the season. What season? Pumpkin Spice everything! For this installment of #Saturyay, however, we are going to focus on another fall staple: apple cider.

One great thing about apple cider? Aside from the taste, you can easily alter a cocktail recipe containing this key ingredient into a mocktail for little ones. That way, everyone get a little specialty drink to enjoy!

Since apple cider in itself bring about “all the feels” for fall, you don’t need to do too much to a cider based cocktail to present it at a fall party or enjoy it by a roaring bonfire. One of our favorite recipes? Apple cider bourbon.

Truth be told, we actually aren’t too fond of bourbon, but this recipe has just enough sweetness in it due to the cider that bourbon and non-bourbon drinkers alike can delight in it’s flavors.

2 ounces of apple cider (Pro tip: Try to stay away from apple juice or spiced apple cider as it will result in a different flavor)

2 ounces of bourbon

1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar

Pinch of angostura bitters

Ice

Half a lemon wedge (for rim)

Getting your glass ready

  • Take a small plate and put rimming sugar of your desired flavor on the plate. Use half of the lemon wedge to line the rim of your glass. Proceed to dip the rim of your festive glass into the rimming sugar. (Pro tip: One of our favorite rimming sugars for this drink isĀ Cinnamon Kiss by Dell Cove Spice Co.)

Pouring the flavor

  • Combine all the remaining ingredients together in a shaker with ice. Do not strain, but rather take off the top of the shaker and pour the entire concoction into your beautifully rimmed glass. (Pro tip: Shake thoroughly to fully dissolve the sugar)
  • Garnish with an apple slice or cinnamon stick and enjoy!
